Stage 4 — Documentation package
The documentation package is a deliverable as physical as the pump. Every item below must be in the binder handed to the building owner at acceptance.
4.1 Required documents — NFPA 20 §14.4 / NBR 16704 §14.4

4.2 Brazil-specific document items — NBR 16704
These have no NFPA 20 equivalent and must be in the package:
- All certificates from INMETRO-recognized laboratories (NBR 16704 §14.5)
- All manuals and schedules in Portuguese as primary language (NBR 16704 §14.4)
- CREA-registered ART (Anotação de Responsabilidade Técnica) for pump-room project
- Pump-room signage in Portuguese (NBR 16704 §4.10):
- “BOMBA DE INCÊNDIO” on door
- “NÃO OPERAR EXCETO EM EMERGÊNCIA” on disconnect
- “SAÍDA” / “EMERGENCY EXIT” bilingual on egress
- AVCB (Auto de Vistoria do Corpo de Bombeiros) for the building, current and valid
4.3 Document language
NBR 16704 §14.4 requires Portuguese as the primary language. NFPA 20 allows English. For a project in Brazil:
- O&M manual: Portuguese (mandatory). English supplementary acceptable.
- Test certificates: Portuguese, OR English with certified Portuguese translation appended.
- Schematic drawings: dimensions in metric (NBR), nomenclature in Portuguese.
- Software / HMI displays on controllers: Portuguese language pack selectable.
A package delivered exclusively in English will fail Bombeiros acceptance in most Brazilian states regardless of NFPA 20 conformity.
